Tyler's Hobby

Tyler is such a great hunter...he hunts everything - ducks, geese, dove, turkey, deer, elk and anything else you can get a license for.

This time he got a banded duck (the little silver band on it's leg - makes this a "special" duck) I guess.  He'll get a certificate for it.

I'm glad that he and his Dad have so much in common. They have a lot of fun together.

Salt Lake Temple

We had fun on our family outing yesterday. First we went to see "The Box" (strange movie). We were glad it was at the $2 movies. Then we went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. Yummy.

Then we went to temple square to see the beautiful lights.

It was so cold and frosty, it was beautiful.  I love the Salt Lake Temple.  I remember standing on the gates with my friends in high school, and telling them that that was the place where I was going to get married.  I think that it's the most beautiful building in the whole world.

We had so much fun last night, the lights were absolutely beautiful.  The big huge pine tree, south east of the temple was loaded with red lights and it was breathtaking.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

I'm always glad when a new year begins. It's a chance to start over, to make a change, to be a little better. It means spring and summer are a little bit closer. Goodbye 2009 - you were a pretty good year. Kylie started Kindergarten (a big step) Heather started Jr. High (another big step) Tyler got his driver's license (an even bigger step) Mom and Dad have had a lot of stress over that big move. Tyler caused his first (and hopefully only) accident the other day, a "small one in a parking lot." (more stress) He's ok, it's all good. Jordyn has been on the High Honor Roll all year, yay for her. We'll remember all the good things that came from 2009 and forget all of the bad things and look forward to a Happy, healthy 2010.

Almost done

I love Christmas. I'm glad my kids are getting out of school for a while. I just want to relax and enjoy the season. I can't wait for our family Christmas parties.

Have you ever seen such a disgusting creature?? 

When we were at Rena's house for the party this weekend, her husband found this bug on the golf course.

We thought since we were on the Dugway Proving Ground base, that it might be a mutant creature, created from all of the chemicals there on the base. It looks like a combination of a wasp, a grasshopper and a gigantic ant. But...

It turns out that it's not so rare.  It lives here in the West and it's called a Jerusalem Cricket.  They're nocturnal, so that's why we don't see too much of them.  I hope I never see another one, once is enough.
